The Bangkok Trip

What can I say? It was fun and I shopped like a mad woman. We went to the much talked about Siam Square, MBK, JJ and Pratunam markets and Patpong Nite Market and beautiful temples and the Grand Place. We covered all these in 2 days and 2 nights! By the time we reached the hotel room, we were dead beat.
JJ market was our first stop. It was huge but hot and crowded. There were so many cheap things on sale. I was rather foolish because when I saw the prices they offered, I just grabbed the stuffs and paid. This 'grab-and-go-and-get-satisfied' thingy went on until hubby started to intervene and bargained all the stuff including my choice clothes on my behalf. And only then I realised that I could have paid much less! Dumb! Like, I paid 299 Bht for most items (because to me anything below 600 Bht was a steal, can you believe that!?) and then when hubby intervened, the prices went down to 240 Bht...If only I knew he was that useful.... I mean I told him to go to his 'places of interests' within the market while I went to mine so that he would not pester me to be quick and all.
Then we went to all the other markets and the temples too. We took tuk-tuk and the BTS train to get us around the city.
I think the city is really progressing fast. The people are very pretty and handsome too! And amidst all the hustle and bustle of city life, I saw a large number of people sidelined in the name of development. Some women begged in the streets with their kids. Even the men looked so tired and worn out, probably working really hard to earn a decent living. Like the tuk tuk driver who took us around the city. He offered to get paid only 20 Bht for the amount of time he spent driving us around. We immediately agreed cause that's like SG 80 cents. After 3 hours of taking us to places and waiting on us while we shopped and posed for shots, it was time to say our thanks and bid him goodbye. I just didn't have the heart to pay him that amount. I told hubby I would pay him 100 Bht instead. The tuk-tuk driver was so happy and shook our hands gratefully. I hope I made his day.
