Being a mother myself, I think there's a lot to celebrate. To list down all the things a mother is doing, had done and will be doing will take forever! Anyway, I will be eating out with my mother, grandmother, aunties and their own families tonight to sort of celebrate and appreciate all mothers in our small but close knit community.
My sons did little art pieces for me and yes, I will keep them cause one day, when they are old enough to buy me stuff with their own small savings, you know the mass manufactured stuffs you can find in the market these days, I can look back and smile and scrutinize the little art works they had made with their little hands and fingers and with a lot of genuine love and time. Because nothing beats a gift one makes himself! But in this world we are living in, particularly a society like ours, time is a luxury. And I will understand that.
Love will be bought and sold because time is limited and money is not. So then, you give what you have more of and keep what you have little for yourself. You know what I mean? I am already doing that...buying things for my own children and people I love and spending less time with them. So, on this Mother's Day, I hope it is a turning point for me to find more time and give time to my loved ones and use less objects to represent my love for them. And to all mummies and particularly the working ones, cheers to you and let us start working to find more time! How ironic life can be.....
